A 412 kg tracked grinder with a 16″ carbide wheel and a walk-beside handset — narrow enough for back-garden access, heavy enough to take a 900 mm stump out to 300 mm below grade.

Built for the job
The single spec that decides most domestic jobs. It clears a standard side gate and a terrace alleyway without lifting fence panels.
You work beside the machine, not behind the wheel. Better sightlines on the cut and you are out of the debris arc.
Twelve reversible teeth. Turn them once for a fresh edge, then swap in minutes with the spanner in the crate.
Low ground pressure keeps it off a customer's lawn and lets it climb a 30° bank to a stump a wheeled machine cannot reach.
Light enough for a braked car trailer. No plant lorry, no HGV hire, no waiting for a transport slot to start a job.
Sweeps the wheel across a 1010 mm arc, so a 900 mm stump comes out without repositioning the tracks.

Questions
760 mm across the tracks. A standard UK side gate opening is 780–900 mm, so it fits the great majority. Measure the narrowest point — usually the gate post, not the gate itself.
300 mm below grade in a single setup, which is enough to re-turf or re-lay a patio over. For a stump you intend to build on, plan on excavating the root plate as well; a grinder removes the stump, not the root system.
At this weight, petrol gives the best power-to-weight ratio, and 38 hp on a 412 kg chassis is what keeps it under the gate-width limit. A diesel of the same output would add roughly 70 kg and 100 mm of width.
A full set of twelve reversible carbide teeth is £186 including VAT from our UK stock. Reversing them first typically doubles the life, so most operators buy one set a season.
Owners do, but check your insurance first — most standard tool policies exclude hire to third parties. We supply the manual and a handover checklist; the liability is yours.
